Tweet, Tweet!
At first.....

When Twitter first came out I had no really idea what is was. All I was hearing was "I follow this person" or " I tweeted about it didn't you see". I mean what does 'tweeted" mean. I also was like ugh, something else to keep up with and follow I don't know about this. My fiance uses Twitter a lot, not to post but more to gain information and knowledge (mainly about sports). I wasn't sure still how I felt about it. I decided to join and 'tweet' around a little.
So I Joined and found resources
I created an account which was easy, but how to search and follow was another story. Also came to love retweeting! That was easy and helped me save things to my page that I found interesting. There is actually a lot of people that share their ideas on Twitter and I was able to gain valuable information. Some information I gained was the 1-man down zoning plan original posted my @reeveautism. I never really thought about making a plan for when I didn't have a paraprofessional. I would just always complain and deal with it that day, but going forward it is going to be much smoother using the guidelines and creating my plan.

Scholastic also provided a link that offers freebies for parents to keep their students active over the summer. They also shared a great article about Empower Tomorrow's Leaders Today which gave ideas and information about how to help are students become leaders in their communities and how important summer learning is for students.
#chat
Now this is what I struggled with. I had the hardest time figuring out how to even join a chat! I ended up figuring it out and boy did it move FAST! I was not ready for how fast it was going to move. The chat I joined in on was #edchat. The topic was about do parents need professional development and if so what type of development? I suggested parents get professional development on the different phonics sounds. For example, from what I remember when I learned it was not really interesting and it was like 'learn this word' now the students have so much learning with the songs videos and hand movements, that I think parents would be able to help reteach the lesson if needed to their students if they knew what to do.
Over all I think I will continue to use Twitter and participate in more Twitter chats over the summer when I have more time to practice using it. I will continue to view my news feed weekly to daily to gain more resources because it is convenient and easy.
Happy Tweeting and be sure to follow me! @ageorgiou20

This is a great post Amanda! I absolutely love the "one-man down" resource you shared and plan to pass it on to my special education teachers. Also great to see what your suggestion about parents needing professional development. Could you imagine?! It looks like an interesting chat. They certainly do more quickly but I love that chats can be re-explored (and commented on) even after they are finished. Happy to see you found some good stuff!
