"Final Step: Bringing About Change"

Technology Leader
Throughout these first four weeks, I have learned a lot about what makes a great leader a leader. A leader must have great communication skills as they will be talking to many different departments within the district. They also need to be organized. They need to be

organized because they will be placing orders for very expensive equipment, collecting data to ensure programs are working and figuring out the best way to store technology on a day to day basis. A leader also needs to be patient, lead by example and build relationships. When I think about myself as a leader, I think I will be a great one, but I did not think about all the responsibility that would come with it. Such as the hiring and ordering sections. The one video I listened to described how when someone is selling you a product they are only going to tell you all the great things about their product. It is up to me to do the research and ask those hard questions that might not make their product so great. I should also talk to other technology leaders and see what their experiences are with these programs to know if this company is telling me all that there is. This is the part I think I would struggle with most, because I would never want to settle for something. I would keep putting it off until I knew it was perfect because if something failed it would be all on me.

Pilot Experience

When starting this pilot experience I definitely wanted to find something that teachers are my school find most meaningful in technology. I asked a few teachers and they all suggested 1:1 technology. The steps I planned to get their project started were more in depth than I expected them to be. Towards the end of the proposal there would be a lot of responsibility with ordering, tracking shipments and communicating with different teams.  I made sure to hit every detail, which as a leader is important to remember. I also found it very helpful to think of every step possibly so I know what my future would hold. Also well to keep me on time and on a schedule. I have also found it hard to get my plan on a time schedule when not everyone wants to hear from me. It was hard to coordinate a time to meet with the technology director and ask him questions about our budget and ideas that I have when am not a technology specialist. Once I started the Google Doc, I have found that teachers are eager to get started and share their ideas. I wonder if the teachers gathered together more would our voice be able to be heard.
