PLN- Tic- Tac- Toe

Pinterest

Who doesn't love Pinterest!? I have so many boards all pertaining to the different communities that I belong to. If you click on the Pinterest logo below, it will take you to my page. You can see boards for reading, teaching, math, science, holiday and phonics...even a board designated to Dr. Seuss!

I love using Pinterest to gather ideas for a certain topic. I love how teachers post "life hacks" on how to create the most space in your classroom using tools from the dollar store.

4 Areas

I think the area that this covers most would be social. Anyone from any where is able to have a Pinterest. If I chose to follow someone who had a great idea about something, they could live in California and I am here in Chicago. I also think it is social because I am able to share the ideas I found with other educators that might not be searching for the same topic that I am.

This area might be reaching far, but I feel I am able to reflect on my teaching and if my ideas didn't work I am able to look for other ideas to help guide my class. I also am able to see into other teachers classrooms and how they organize it, tools that they use that help etc.

I also feel this might be the identify area because when I am searching a topic I am becoming a learner from someone else and see how they taught the topic and with the tools that they are using.

Here is an article explaining why people should use Pinterest over any other social media network.

  1. Hello Amanda,

I also love Pinterest and I chose to create an educational Pinterest board for this week's PLN tic tac too. I made one with STEM/STEAM activities and resources and I totally agree that it is the perfect tool saving and sharing resources. I can see that you have a lot of great Pinterest boards and resources. You have started a great collection. If you were going to add another board, what topic might you want to save ideas for next?

Pinterest is clearly a place for social growth since people consistently share ideas. I also thought it might be affective since the links often contain blog posts or reviews of products or resources other people liked. This provides me with the confidence to takes risks and try something new.

    Thanks for sharing!

  2. Hello Amanda:
I love Pinterest too! Not just for school but for my personal life. If I find a great idea for a lesson on the web, I "pin". I am just not organized about where I put the webpage! I read the article about pinterest you put on your blog. I do love that pinterest is a visual and search tool. I get so many awesome ideas from that website. What I didn't know was that it didn't have a limit on how many "friends" you can have like Twitter or Facebook. My theory is more friends on pinterest... the more ideas I will find!
