Final Proposal
Final steps
I never knew how long the process would be to get a technology tool finalized. There are many steps that go into it and I will describe each of them below.
Step 1:
Thinking of a need that would enhance my students learning. This was not a challenge for me at all. I am new to the district and I was in complete shock that this district did not have SMARTBoards. I know a SMARTBoard is not everything, but when using one everyday, to not having one, it really does make a huge difference.
Step 2:
This step involves why do you need the SMARTBoard and what problems will it solve, the resources we will need to make it happen and how we will fund it. This step required me to talk to my building principal about my idea and get her feedback. This step got my discouraged because I felt like she was not on board with my vision. Every time I mentioned something I felt she kept coming up with a reason that I should propose it.
Step 3:
This step to me was average in difficulty. I enjoy
writing papers to persuade someone to do something. I had to write a paper stating the steps above and adding in research to how a SMARTBoard would fit into our districts visions. This step also included which learning theories SMARTBoard works with to make it so great! This step was obviously harder because it took more work and you had to complete research. One thing I really liked about this step was knowing that a SMARTBoard is really a great asset to the school and not just because I think it is.
Step 4:
This step I enjoyed. I liked doing to the research and seeing all the different things SMARTBoard has to offer for when I present to my superintendent. I think this was the most valuable stuff because this step talks about pricing and which design we want, the actually product and who would be involved in it.
Step 5:
I also found this step very rewarding and also very easy. My team is the best when it came to finding time for me to ask them questions about the technology available to use. I found it most interesting that more teachers here know about a SMARTBoard and are just using what they have because that is what they have. It was also interesting to know that the teachers HATE the boards we have and would prefer a SMARTBoard.
Step 6:
This step involved me making any corrections to my final paper and adding in my feedback from my peers and how plan to present it to my superintendent.
Step 7:
This was probably my favorite part! After all my hard work I am able to present my proposal to the people who matter most. I liked being able to explain all my research to my superintendent. I loved being able to have the software on my computer to show him how knowledgeable I am and how much I would have to offer.
